The data the course runs on, the session notebooks, and the runnable copy of every handbook chapter.

Set up

FileWhat it isLink
.gitignore for your course repository The list of things git should leave out of your commits: your .venv, marimo's session cache, Python's bytecode, and anything private. It is GitHub's Python template with one line added for macOS, .DS_Store. Copy it into the .gitignore in the root folder of your repository, the one that holds README.md, as in step 11 of Getting Started. The Python template GitHub Desktop offers is an older copy with no line for marimo's session cache.
Your agent's rules The course's rules for your agent. Save it as AGENTS.md in the root folder of your repository and commit it, and the agent in VS Code reads it with every request. Paste the same text into marimo's Custom Rules. The steps are in Your AI Tools and Babson Key.

Projects

FileWhat it isLink
Mini Project 1 starter notebook The notebook to build Mini Project 1 in, with its sections laid out. Save it in your course repository as projects/mp1/ followed by a name for what your tool does, such as loan-schedule.py, and open it with uv run marimo edit. What the project asks for is on its page, linked from the calendar.

The warehouse

FileWhat it isLink
Northwind orders 16,282 rows, one per order. The starting point for most of the term's SQL. Read it with DuckDB's read_parquet or polars' pl.read_parquet.
Download
Northwind order details 609,283 rows, one per line item. Joining this to orders without first saying what one row of the result means is how a total silently grows.
Download
Northwind customers 93 rows. Carries the region column whose blanks are the term's first real question about what a missing value means.
Download
Northwind products 77 rows, with the supplier and category keys the joins use.

The retail data

FileWhat it isLink
Online Retail 541,909 rows, every transaction of a UK online giftware retailer between 1 December 2010 and 9 December 2011. What the Python chapters run on, because a real file is where the questions about types and missing values come from. Chen, D. The TV show data

FileWhat it isLink
CS50's TV show database The TV show database from the topic slides: shows.db, a SQLite file of 234,715 shows and 670,167 people, inside CS50's lecture 7 source code, a 32 MB zip. It is CS50's build of IMDb data, which IMDb allows for personal and non-commercial use only, so it is linked from CS50 and not copied here. DuckDB opens it with its sqlite extension: INSTALL sqlite; LOAD sqlite; ATTACH 'shows.db' AS tv (TYPE sqlite, READ_ONLY); USE tv;
