Checkpoint 1

Due Sunday, 9/20, 11:59 PM

The first notebook has three jobs: getting marimo running on your machine, taking the whole workflow through once including working with AI, and running Python before you have been taught its syntax.

  • Your GitHub account has a public repository named oim7510. I find it from the account URL you submitted, so it has to be public and it has to have that name.
  • More than one commit in each week it covers. Not one push at the end with everything in it.
  • 01-first-notebook.py is in it.
  • You worked through the whole notebook. Every section, including the ones we did not reach in class. Use your agent for those. The last section, A Question About Your Own Numbers, is optional.
  • Every commit message says what changed. add the bar chart, not update, fix, asdf or the file name. The agent in GitHub Desktop will write one for you, and reading it before you commit is the whole job.

How your work reaches me. Saving a file changes it on your laptop only. Nothing above counts until it is on github.com.

  1. Save. Ctrl+S, or Cmd+S on macOS. The dot beside the file name goes away.
  2. Open GitHub Desktop. Your changed files are listed down the left side.
  3. Write a Summary of what you changed, in the box at the bottom left, then click Commit to main.
  4. Click Push origin, at the top. This is the step people miss. Committing alone keeps the work on your laptop.
  5. Open your repository on github.com and look at it. If you cannot see your change there, neither can I.
